A story about the dangers and risks of being a reporter in Gaza from CNN came across my eyes and I had to share it.

Despite knowing the dangers they would be putting themselves in amid the ongoing war, local journalists in Gaza are risking their lives to share with the rest of the world what is going on as the Israel-Hamas war continues to rampage. After over 200 days of fighting, the bombings have devastated neighborhoods and caused severe shortages of food. There are still 129 hostages taken by Hamas from Israel, with at least 34 thought to be dead.

These Palestinian journalists are crucial, especially since foreign media can’t enter the area. “Trapped in the strip alongside their fellow Gaza residents, Palestinian reporters have become the eyes and ears of those suffering under the shadow of war.” According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), at least 97 journalists have been killed since October, making it the deadliest time for journalists since 1992.

Their courage and dedication are truly inspiring, reminding us of their vital role in bringing the truth to light, even in the darkest times.
