AI – A Recipe For Disaster

Long gone the days where users would worry about their privacy and data theft by companies owning applications that they had installed, we are in the times of artificial intelligence being trained on real user data so as to accurately mimic human behavior or at least a version of it. This of course led to AI being misused and giving birth to a whole new set of crimes. The crimes go from visual impersonation using deepfake technology, high scaled blackmail, provision of false news as well as something as alarming as misuse of military technology. The lack of legislation towards regulating AI, in itself, is proof that while, “Law enforcement, policymakers, and technology developers must stay vigilant and proactive in addressing these emerging threats to safeguard our increasingly AI-dependent world”, this is not the case — in fact these people are just as confused as the rest of us.
