n The Predictions For Journalism 2024 article created by Nieman Lab some of the smartest people in journalism give their predictions on what they think this year in journalism will look like. Not surprisingly, many journalists had something to say about how AI will affect journalism this year, with a big shout out to the 2024 election and having misinformation spread and fake photos created. However, Andrew Golis the man pictured above who works for Civic News Company is not as pessimistic as other journalists about AI in journalism. He believes that the overwhelming chaos that AI will bring with the 2024 election and other political news will “speed up our migration off big social media platforms to niche communities where we can be better versions of ourselves” ( Golis,2023). This thought hit home to me because I stopped using almost all social media about 7 years ago because of all the anxiety I felt from information pollution. Golis also talked about how people will feel exhausted from authorless content and go in search of stories created by people they can feel connected to. I like Golis’s prediction, and I hope we start to see a trend of people leaving big platforms to take power away from AI content and the people who use it to create fake news.
