I admit that when scrolling across social media platforms I click on posts I come across with outrageous titles or thumbnails that catch my attention and get lost for hours. Because TikTok posts become popular because of an algorithm these content creators will use certain trends or sounds to show up on your "For You Page". A lot of the time these strategies work. A thumbnail of absurd news or a controversial title will show up to grab the attention of many. An example being the summer olympics using the Seine river. In the Todays Front Page of USA Today is a picture of the Eiffel tower with the title "All Eyes on Paris Olympics". This causes readers to stop and read because the Eiffel tower is widely known and they wonder "why are all eyes on Paris". This is similar to newspapers or news articles online because often we see a title that is eye catching or controversial that gets reader to stop scrolling and investigate. It also gets the readers to view other people's views and arguments. Because arguments can cause a video to get lots of views and interactions some creators will often utilize these arguments to build up their page.
