Being a Journalist in a Dangerous World

For the average person, most people would think that journalists don't have a dangerous job. But when protests and politics mix in with the news, it can become dangerous. In Mexico, journalist risk their lives every day to cover news of events happening. Journalists who expose the truth about politics and crimes are the ones who get targeted. The danger in the profession increased because of the pandemic and ongoing drug war in Mexico. "In the first five months of 2022, 11 Mexican journalists have been killed, most probably because of their profession" (Turati). Journalists in Mexico have to seek protection because of the threats they receive from many people as well as politicians.
