With a bright blue pool and an enticing premise of great apartment space for student living, The Avenue of San Marcos is a great place to live. According to the apartment website, "The Avenue San Marcos is … living … unparalleled convenience … [with] units [that] offers a blend of comfort and style complemented by a range of exceptional amenities." However, the complex is a combination of lies and deception. This complex has put me and many other residents through the wringer. But how did I even find myself in this position to begin with? Masked by strategic marketing tactics apparent on the website, with the idea that convenience is at residents' fingertips, the avenues utilize public rhetoric to draw in more residents. While the Avenue appeals as though it is very convenient for residents, it is quite the opposite because residents face various issues. As a resident, I find it not "convenient" to have a green pool or a gym with no AC. It is incredibly inconvenient to have an apartment with mold growing. The implementation of public rhetoric online conveys that The Avenue is the best place for a student to live, but it is quite the opposite.
