Allen, Texas has witnessed 3,222 crashes in 2023 averaging about nine collisions daily, with nearly 600 causing injuries. The primary issues are speeding and distracted driving, leading to alarming statics, according to Allen Police Chief Steve Dye. " The number one complaint to my office is driving behavior," Chief Dye said. The collaboration between Allen Police, Collin County Sheriff's Office and other agencies aims to combat these dangers. Initiated on May 1st, their three-phase plan includes heightened patrols and a public awareness campaign. Sheriff Jim Skinner stresses the critical need for drivers to slow down, advocating that " slowing down is going to save lives."
