Journalism and the Future:
The era of technology has, for the most part, been a welcome one. But journalists working in science and environment are being laid off by publishers (because everything is becoming digitized these days). This is terrible because "Many of the world’s biggest, most urgent, and most difficult challenges are fundamentally grounded in science...to help citizens understand and navigate these complex issues, we need science journalists now more than ever." Fortunately, there is a promising solution: cooperatively owning publications. Although many publications that have adopted this dynamic rely on donations and subscriptions, doing so will provide stability for journalists and assure that the most quality information will go straight to the people. After all, computers will never be human.
