What we consume for our bodies is an essential key to a healthy life. When you are made to think all food is generally the same, it's hard to decipher what's real and what's not. How bad does food fraud affect the food industry? A CNBC video mentioned that "food fraud affects at least one percent of the global food industry, according to the FDA." This amounts to "a cost of $40 billion a year." Food fraud not only hurts the money in your pockets but can also rob you of nutrients. At the very worst people have even died due to fraudulent food.
