Many things we see on the news, social media, or any app used to gain information daily can be "Fake News." Much information being spread can affect how we trust the people we follow on social media or the types of news channels we watch on TV. The things they are posting or mentioning can be spread, and the individuals watching could gain fake information. In an article called "Disinformation Pipeline," they mentioned how "23% of social media users admit to purposely or accidentally sharing fake political news" ("Disinformation Pipeline"). It's easy to look at absorbing information and share it with others without checking to see if it's truthful. It's essential to be able to fact-check information that we share with others. People should be able to fact-check things like political news, climate, or even things that just happened. Also, when it comes to social media, "bots and trolls speed up the spread of fake news" ("Disinformation Pipeline"). People gaining false information can harm others. Instead of spreading, we should ask ourselves, "Is this true, or are people making up information to catch my attention?" Like that, we will be able to reduce the amount of false information that is being spread.
