Fake news is going to be around for centuries, even after we die. I get that it's important to understand it, and learn about why you need to be able to identify if it's fake or not. Honestly, I could give less of a thought about news and if it’s fake or not fake, that's the whole debate, right? The only harm it can truly cause is that people believe it. If they have common sense they would dig further into uncovering the truth. The truth is they don't do that, no amount of trying to explain why you should will get through to them. So I say let them believe what they want, I know I might sound uneducated and idiotic. I'm fine with that in all honesty because I have come to the terms that I don't care about the news.
Sure, some news is highly important, like when Covid-19 happened, or the political elections. I know that's important. Sometimes people are so wrapped up in the news that they don't know their left from their right. My grandmother got her news straight from her brothers, then my mom would actually show her what was actually going on. Did that mean my grandmother listened? Maybe, maybe not. She never confirmed if she did or not.
We wanted the truth, right? This is the truth. From people who could care less about it, people who are actually informed, and people who get the wrong information. If we all took a moment and used our brain we would realize that we are all the same, just different fonts. A wonderful example I know of is from my previous government teacher Mr. Young. He told the class, "My neighbor and I have the same set of morals, we both have kids, we both own our house and mow or lawn on Sunday. The only difference is that I'm Liberal and he is Republican. Yet, we still get along like a house on fire." So you see it's not that different honestly.
