Recently, the Presidential Debate of 2024 occurred between the main presidential candidates: Joe Biden and Donald Trump. While both candidates are seniors, Biden's older age of 81 and his cognitive abilities came into question. Members of each party admit the debate on Thursday night was hard to watch due to Biden's behavior. In consequence, Biden supporters "flirted with potential replacements, and donors and supporters couldn’t contain their concern about his showing against Trump". Throughout the article, the writer puts more emphasis on negative connotation words such as "meandering" or "unsteady". Using a multitude of negative words conveys to the author that Biden is associated with a bleak future. Vice versa, since Trump is the opponent we associate him with positivity and goodness. AP news feed captures its target audience by using big bold print for its headlines and using pictures that exhibit action to kickstart momentum.
