History of the Olympic Torch

The Olympic torch is a symbol recently displayed on July 26th, but watching the opening ceremony, had me thinking about how far back the torch ceremony went, and what has changed from then to now.

In Ancient Greece, the torch was used in the same way as in the modern Olympics and is used today to pay homage to the ancient games. It was introduced in the modern age in 1936 and has been implemented in some way ever since. With the torch being used in "planes, ships, and even satellites," it continues to be innovated even to this day.
