A personal experience from browsing and scrolling through Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter is that they have developed different ways to disseminate information. I noticed that Instagram and Facebook are very similar in their tack to share recent news. They both employ a “liked by user” feature that will appear on other followers’ feeds. While on Twitter, they recently revamped the structure of their posts. They removed the feature that shows who liked a specific post and also displayed the amount of views and bookmarks on the same tweet. However, they do employ a similar strategy to spread data where if one of the users you follow like a certain tweet, it will appear on your timeline. For Tiktok, they heavily use hashtags to determine a person’s preferences which affects the algorithm. Overall, they collectively use similar yet unique approaches to share information online.
