Hu Shuli is a female reporter from Bejing, China who is not afraid to speak out against the injustices of the Chinese Governement. Altough, she has been reported as being able to “walk up to the line without crossing it” so her work is controversial but keeps her out of prison. One reason why her journalism is so captivating is that she uses the technique of story telling when writing her articles. Another reason is that she does not always put her opinion into her articles which lets the readers decide for themselves what they think the issues should be.In an article released in 2023 there is no commentary of her own placed into an interview done with Henry Kissinger; former U.S. secretary during the Nixon administration. The entire article has Shuli’s questions in bold with Kissingers answers underneath there is no fluff or back and forth between the interviewer and interviewee. I enjoyed this writing style as the author wasnt trying to make me see different points of view but rather just focus on Kissinger’s responses. In the article Kissinger mentions that social media has “created a degree of interconnection between people that didnt exist” before and that it will be difficult to navigate this world especially in politics because people are becoming dependent on the approval of others ( Shuli, 2023). I believe that it is difficult to find and trust good information on the internet because people usually insert themselves into a story instead of giving the facts.
