In the new election in 2024, news broke out that President Biden has reportedly dropped out of the election, with a new candidate still yet to be decided; I began to think, is this a somewhat normal thing to do in this day and age?
So, yes, it is rare in this day and age, with Biden being the first president in the past 50 years, with LBJ being the last president to drop out of a race.
The reasoning for this can range from the inability to be president to death by being caught doing illegal acts, and the list goes on! So far, "only 4 presidents have officially dropped out of the race," and they all were in common with our current president, with most having dropped out due to low acceptance rates. And it has me wondering if this could begin a trend, or go back to a simple anomaly.
