Everyone enjoys scrolling on social media apps like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or any other entertainment app. Scrolling on TikTok is one of my favorite social media apps. Young people can use the “ TikTok “ app to express themselves, post, go live, and even communicate with people! While scrolling on social media, we see all types of exciting things like political battles, what is happening on the other side of the world, weather news, and even drama between the influencer world! The question is, how can we separate what is real from what is fake?

Over the years, social media has progressed and has given many people opportunities to grow and even create a living out of it. It has become harder to know who is telling the truth and just lying for views. An article called "The Disaster of Misinformation" by Sadiq Muhammad and Saji K. Mathew explained how "information which is fake or misleading and spreads unintentionally is known as misinformation" (Muhammad and Mathew, 2022). A bunch of information is shared online every day. Sometimes, we see it and believe it so quickly without fact-checking!

One way that Facebook reduced the amount of misinformation shared online is by "filtering of their algorithms to combat misinformation, down-ranking the post flagged by their fact-checkers which will reduce the popularity of the post or page" (Muhammad and Mathew, 2022).  Taking down information that can be misleading is essential because it can cause problems online or even in the real world. Before we believe everything we see online, it is vital to double-check, fact-check, and verify that the information is proven true!
