In the new age of social media journalism is becoming much less of a commodity. We as as society have almost completely outgrown the need of new paper via articles, news paper, blogs etc. After previewing this book on https://books.google.com/, Mitchell Stephens explains in his 2014 ebook, "Beyond News: the future of journalism", journalists have been going out of business during the latest surge of technology and its effectiveness. People no longer rely on journalists to provide them with news/current events when it's right at our finger tips. "Online and cable news operations have grabbed audiences but not replaced enough jobs–at least not enough that pay" (Stephens pg.2).
