A award winning student journalist Dilan Gohill was arrested while covering a pro-Palestine protest at Stanford University On June 4th 2024. Dilan and 12 others were arrested while documenting the protest for the Stanford Daily. Stanford officials argued that Gohill was not allowed inside the private offices even though Dilan identifies himself as press. "The building is not open to the public or the campus community," said Stanford officials, adding that his presence in the office did not fall under First Amendment protections. He faces charges of vandalism, felony burglary and conspiracy.
