"Our mission is to speak truth to power" - Marie Colvin
Everyone at one point in their lives has seen what conflicts and wars, especially in these past years, look like across the world and thought “Wow I can't imagine what I would do if I were in that situation”. Now imagine if some people travelled to these places and willingly risked their lives to report on what's going on there. Its journalists like Marie Colvin and Clarissa Ward who do exactly that, as they report from conflict zones worldwide. Their stories bring real world issues to light, and often its at great risk to themselves. Colvin's work in Syria and Ward's reporting in Afghanistan show the power of ground journalism and its influence on global awareness. These journalists used detailed descriptions, firsthand accounts, and compelling visuals such as in-the-moment photos to convey the human impact of war, making what we see as distant conflict, resonate with global audiences. Since Colvin was assassinated, her foundation has been doing its best to upkeep her mission.
