Lemon8, TikTok's New Sister App

Lemon8 is a new app from Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok. Although it is too a social media platform with the goal of giving "users the chance to find recommendations and ideas related to their favorite topics," its main emphasis is images. Like other social media platforms, Lemon8 follows a complex algorithm to keep the viewer hooked. Its mode of viewing seems comparable to the Pintrest platform. Lemon8 has been pushing for advertising on its platform through young people on various existing platforms. Lemon8 came out in 2020 and currently has five million monthly users. Many, including myself, are anxious to see how it will live up to TikTok's one-plus billion monthly users.
