By observing newspapers daily, you can often notice how they strategically use text and visuals to capture readers' attention. It is like clickbait on the media, except it is on paper instead. Some newspaper companies use bold, black text to capture readers' attention. They also might use striking images to show the people what they want to see. Over time, people realize patterns in how newspapers arrange their content. Not all companies do it the same, but you can usually pick up a specific pattern. They typically use big fonts on the front page to capture your attention on what news is more important. People can understand what their audience likes when they pay attention to these layouts daily. The article "New Ways to Attract Readers," written by The Columbian, states, "Back before web-capable mobile phones disrupted the information world, a newspaper relied on advertising for about three-quarters of its revenue."https://www.columbian.com/news/2021/aug/21/from-the-newsroom-new-ways-to-attract-readers/) This quote shows how newspapers were forgotten when cell phones came out, making them lose revenue. To get it back, they had to do big things to attract newspaper readers.
