ARIJ, or the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism was founded in 2005, and can be described as " a distinctive venture in the Arab world: the first media organization on the region dedicated to advancing investigative journalism"(Damen, Rawan, This Reporter Helped Free 1,600 Yemeni Prisoners). Yemeni reporter Wael Sharha led an investigative report called Eternal Hostages exposed the long time inmates who have not even been convicted rotting in jail, left to be forgotten about. Yemen is largely considered on of the poorest Arab countries, with not enough people or transports prisoners awaiting trial often get forgotten about and left for years on end in a cell. Sharha's findings helped support all Arab journalists, as well as saved hundreds of lives. In his report he utilizes emotional appeals through his personal stories, creditability from citing the ARIJ, and logical arguments with clear goal and outcome.
