Andrew Golis is a senior news adviser at Civic News Company, who predicts that "The robots will make us more human" in 2024. He echoes the controversial rise of artificial intelligence in our world, particularly in the field of journalism. Golis contends that artificial intelligence can bring both good and bad to the world, believing that people "have to do our best to tip the balance", but already sees the negative effects it has on journalism- AI generated content that is downright false or just mediocre. Amidst this mess, Golis finds a silver lining in three ways: Golis asserts that the rise of AI in journalism will makes online communities "healthier", showing the value of "value of authored creativity", while creating "a new generation of independent media". Essentially, Golis believes that this seemingly malevolent rise in AI generated news won't be as dystopian as we fear- he finds the rose that grew from concrete.
