Spotlight is an accurate and entertaining rendition of the Boston Globe’s uncovering the child molestation epidemic that occurred by the Roman Catholic Church. Spoiler alerts ahead if you have not seen the movie I would highly suggest watching it. During the movie they express that how they present the article is the most important part, “Baron told us to get the system. We need the full scope, that is the only thing that will put an end to this,” rather than letting them talk their way out of it by blaming a few rotten apples. They want the journalism to be released correctly, another example of this is when they found out it was not just 13 men through an expert who had been collecting data for 30 years. The film does a wonderful expression of fact checking and getting the full story via the victims, even expressing the cycle of abuse done to one of the priests in their childhood.
