Spotlight - A Masterclass in Investigative Journalism

Spotlight is more than just a film; it's a raw and honest portrayal of the relentless pursuit of the truth called investigative journalism. In the movie, we follow the Boston Globe's Spotlight team in their journey to uncover the systemic child sex abuse within the Catholic Church. What’s awe-inspiring and  astonishing to witness in this movie is how dedicated and committed these journalists were. The month and even years they spent digging into dusty archives and conducting countless interviews and finding any means or resource that will enable them to build a case against a powerful and deeply rooted institution is just mesmerizing.

Another aspect which the film highlights is the importance of collaboration and trust within a newsroom. The Spotlight team functioned in a perfect harmony, each member's talents complementing the others while contributing their expertise to the investigation. It sheds light on the difficult ethical decisions journalists must make and ethical dilemmas they face. While uncovering the truth is vital, protecting sources and preserving journalistic are equally crucial.

Spotlight is a powerful reminder of journalism's role as a watchdog, holding the powerful accountable.
