The Downpour of the 2020 Presidential Election

Following the results of the 2020 presidential election, a plethora of news stations covered the capitol riot dated January 6, 2021. With the political climate’s tensions rising after “Donald Trump’s defeat,” Trump supporters directed their frustration with Congress and commenced a series of attacks. The newspaper title, “President incites crowd to acts of insurrection, violence” detailed the consecutive attacks as “a mob that would eventually grow into the thousands bashed through Capitol doors and windows, forcing their way past police officers unprepared for the onslaught” (Jan et. al). The rioters on-site adorned patriotic merch and held American flags. This event signified a neverending discrepancy between the two parties: Republicans and Democrats.
