The military can benefit people's lives in many ways. Not only do they get the fantastic benefits that come with it, but they also protect all of us in the United States. Unfortunately, people leave the military with negative experiences that can haunt them for the rest of their lives. Some get deployed to countries where all it is is war. They have seen their best friends get killed right in front of them, and it haunts them forever and can cause severe PTSD. On the positive side, the military often provides individuals valuable skills, discipline, and camaraderie. Many veterans benefit from educational opportunities through different programs. An article by the National Library of Medicine named "The Health and Wellbeing Needs of Veterans" states, "For the majority of serving members, life in the military has a positive effect on wellbeing. However, the type, intensity, and duration of service and transitioning from full-time military to civilian life may hurt veterans' wellbeing."https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5747125/#:~:text=For%20the%20majority%20of%20serving,negative%20effect%20on%20veterans'%20wellbeing.) We should all be grateful for the people who serve this country and hope that the veterans going through negative times can recover.
