Around this time last year, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University was the premier university for overachieving students looking to go into the aerospace engineering sector. Now, its Prescott campus is on the brink of having its accreditation taken away. How did this happen? According to an anonymous source, this started in January, with the administration proposing a post-tenure review policy for the first time in Embry-Riddle's history. Immediately after the announcement, "a survey was released to address professor concerns, but as far as we can tell, no concerns were addressed before the institution of this policy, which was 4 months after the announcement of the policy and the survey being released" according to my source. Students then learned about the policy from the investigative journalism done by the student-run newspaper for the Prescott campus, "and started protesting because they felt it was unfair to the professors." I will follow up on this story when I have more information.
