Social media has opened a new world for journalism and news. The New York Times explains that "on social platforms, our reporters and editors can promote their work, provide real-time updates, harvest and curate information, cultivate sources, engage with readers and experiment with new forms of storytelling and voice." While this contributes to new ways of communication, as far as news goes, they do explain some downsides. Humans are not perfect and may make mistakes, so journalists must be cautious about what they post. In an article, they expressed, "If our journalists are perceived as biased or if they engage in editorializing on social media, that can undercut the credibility of the entire newsroom." This is very important because they take pride in reliability and unbiased news.
