I'm sure many of you reading this have seen Spiderman movies. In those movies, a character named J. Jonah Jameson always criticizes Spiderman, calling him a menace and such. He always puts out ridiculous headlines for his newspaper. Like JJ Jameson, The New York Post does something very similar. They use extreme hyperbole in so many of their headlines. This can be seen as the OG clickbait. For example, a recent headline states, "BREAKING NEWS Justin Timberlake breaks silence at Chicago concert following Hamptons DWI arrest." Putting the words "BREAKING NEWS" before any headline gives a sense of urgency, almost forcing readers to click on it. However, there is obviously nothing particularly urgent about Justin Timberlake.
