Over the past two years there has been a rising number of accidents throughout the United States. A Wall Street article has contributed the increase of car crashes to COVID. The first year of Covid lockdowns reduced the amount of car crashes because people were staying home and not going out. However, fatality rates continue to go up in "the highest level since 2007" resulting in "38,824 around the U.S in 2020" (Wall Street Journal, 2022). I believe more people became impatient after driving on clear roads with little traffic. This resulted in an increase of car crashes and a rise in fatality rates. More people should be aware of the changes caused by COVID lockdowns and start thinking about finding methods to reduce automobile deaths.
