In a previous post, I explained how fake news was spread by certain news outlets in order to get clicks. This time, I'm going to talk about the people who purposefully spread misinformation. A lot of the time, people will spread or make up fake news for no reason other than to get a reaction out of people. Twitter is one of the biggest platforms where misinformation is widely spread amongst its users. A team of scientists researching what prompted the spread of fake news, discovered that people who viewed a tweet made up of false information were more likely to express greater"surprise and disgust," which then spurs that person and others to do the same.
