On March 21st, a tornado that traveled through the Collin County northern areas destroyed Carrolton, luckily not as devastating as the previous tornado through Rockwall. It is known that all of Collin County lives on the southernmost point of Tornado Valley, and each year hundreds of tornadoes go through these cities and towns, leaving wreckage behind. As time goes on they are becoming more frequent, where in the past they were at about 2 or 3 in the early fall, and now they are running in the double digits even all the way in spring.
I then ask, why do people still decide to live in this area, when at a moment's notice their house can be torn apart? I asked a friend's mother of mine who has lived in the area for her entire life. She said, "I feel that this city, (Allen) is so safe in other aspects, that it is worth the risk. I'll take a tornado over constant robberies any day!" I do feel similarly. Any town will have it's challenges, but some are truly worth the risk.
