Discovering Fake News

Fake news are claims that are made up that spread misinformation. Misinformation is defined by this media source as "false or inaccurate information." It is a common issue that we are battling today and leads to division among nations and their citizens.

Ways that fake news is used in everyday life primarily consists of satire, which usually has no malicious intent but still causes confusion and the spread of misinformation. Nowadays media companies have been funding departments dedicated to quality control and seeing through patterns. Although still a widespread issue, fake news is much more detectable. Not much misinformation seems to slip through the cracks before someone detects it.
