Does the Media Make Rappers A Villain?

By: Jerry Okonkwo

For decades, the issue of rap entertainment being a positive influence or negative influence on society has prompted questions ever since the untimely demises of prolific entertainers Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG. Rap entertainment has the potential to be meaningful. However, it’s indeed a conscious matter. However, just about every musical style can be helpful or horrendous in equal measure. Other experts might simply declare that rap entertainment doesn't have some of the unique benefits.

On the other hand, experts might reasonably claim that this isn't the case components of rappers remain helpful to humanity. Take women, for instance. The female population remains frequently degraded, regardless of genre. However, hardly any rap track has gotten constructed in a comparable pattern in a more precise manner to promote deliberately offensive to the female community through a wide range of incredible tunes. For instance, when accepting his award for the Grammys in 2019, Canadian musician Drake stated, “This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people who might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say” (Carmichael). This quotation helps portray how the hip-hop community has gotten given up by the wayside for the most part. https://www.npr.org/2019/02/12/693633206/the-grammys-dont-have-a-hip-hop-problem-the-grammys-have-a-grammy-problem
