Over the years, the term "fake news" has become increasingly popular. This term is often used to discredit news, essentially accusing them of spreading false information. This term was used by past president Donald Trump often, which is where most of its popularity originated from. So how do we determine the real from the fake? Often, fake news is often riddled with the overuse of pathos and is often biased. They try to appeal to the emotional side of the audience that they are writing for and spew this misinformation to make the opposition look worse than they are. This article details the different types of fake news as well as how to spot them. People's Bank states an important piece of information, stating that “a problem that we humans often run into is that we only read sources that simply confirm what we already believe in. Challenge yourself by reading other sources you normally would not review." While it can be hard to tell fact versus fake, finding unbiased news that is credible is the safest way to know what you are reading is right.
