Fake News on Covid-19

Fake news and misinformation can be found scattered all along social media. According toM Library Research Guide, “...we are defining “fake news” as those news stories that are false: the story itself is fabricated, with no verifiable facts, sources or quotes.” Misinformation on the other hand can be described as information that is,“spread innocently despite being incorrect”. (Greg Nyilasy) An example of this type of fake news is the amount of misinformation that was being spread about Covid-19. Many false theories were created to blame the cause of Covid such as it being a plan from the government or a lie all together. With the use of social media, fake news is able to reach different audiences in hopes one will believe them.
