FAKE NEWS: The far right attempts pin the Capitol riots on the FBI

On January 6, 2021, the nation was shocked to witness the actions performed at the country’s Capitol in response to Trump’s losing the presidential election. These actions were performed by the extreme far-right members of society, who believed that the election was unrightfully stolen from Trump. After these members were arrested and deemed terrorists, articles from the far-right claiming that “evidence” that the riots were actually planned by the FBI to paint Trump supporters in a negative light were quick to surface, which have since been debunked by many news sources (such as USA Today, Washington Post, and FactCheck.org) as having absolutely zero evidence.

An article from Tatum Report (citing an article published by Revolver News) claimed that evidence was “mounting that the FBI was involved in planning and executing” the riots in the Capitol, and then proceeded to provide absolutely zero evidence throughout the entire article (Marmee Rooke, Tatum Report). Rather, the author claimed throughout that Trump supporters and Republicans as a whole were being targeted as terrorists, and included theories about how the FBI orchestrated the Capitol riots in order to incite fear and anger in her readers, rather than logic and proof. Her methods are clearly effective, as her article has several commenters who went into rants about how what she’s saying makes sense and is all “so obvious.”
