Social Media and The News have an immense impact on a large percentage of people's daily lives and routines. So much to where it leaves the question of " How credible is the news I'm hearing/Listening to?". The way we receive our news is important, for example is it a first source? Second source? Word of mouth from friends or family? Reporters have gotten very skillful at targeting their audience. That said makes it pivotal for us to be able to snipe out the truthful version of the news being told.
It discusses how to approach social media with rhetoric to decipher how the news and marketing is targeting audiences and what rhetoric is being used to persuade their argument. Another example is on the Covid-19, which by now everyone is familiar with on behalf of news networks and social media. (Pope Francis) says on UPI news how he believes that fake news on Covid-19 and having the write to the truth on the fake news should be a human right. He states "We can hardly fail to see that these days, in addition to the pandemic, an 'infodemic' is spreading: a distortion of reality based on fear, which in our global society leads to an explosion of commentary on falsified if not invented news," Francis said. The rhetorics the news networks utilize is important for us to have an understanding in how we retain and process the information.
