When diving into a new game, would you ever imagine that it could draw out the struggles of marriage in a quirky way? When coming across It Takes Two, I was shocked. I decided immediately that my husband and I must play it. Though this is a cute game about two yarn characters that are going through a divorce, it is also a game about cooperation and how it can directly affect your success. “The brilliance of the game comes from the way that each player is regularly assigned their own special skill, making them interdependent partners.” (Byrd, Christopher. Washington Post.) This game is a visual representation of common hiccups in marriage then tend to lead to complacency or distrust in it. They fight a sentient vacuum cleaner that the husband never fixed, amongst other things they’d forgotten or avoided that have led to their divorce. This game is creative in its design as well as it’s rhetoric.
