Harassments of Journalists in Ukraine

Reporters without Borders reports that harassment, threats, and abductions have taken place in Ukraine surrounding journalists covering the war perpetrated by Russia. “What with death threats, kidnapping and enforced disappearance, the Russian soldiers have been getting more and more inventive” explains the organization. The father of a Ukrainian journalist named Svitlana Zalizetska was kidnapped in an attempt to force the cooperation of a paper’s editor. The journalist refused to cooperate and continued to publish with the same rhetorical strategy: covering the activities of the Russians as close to reality as possible. Additional hostage taking included Russians overtaking a radio station,Novosti Berdiansk, and its 50 employees. Another journalist, Viktoria Roshchina was kidnapped for ten days but then released.
