The documentary Seaspiracy on Netflix deals heavily with media coverups specifically of the fish industry and how we are led to believe on packaging that some fish as ethically sourced and fished sustainably. The documentary (which may or may not be true in all fairness), showed how various companies covered up the damage they were doing to the oceans and the fish populations. There were clearly many upset parties by this documentary, all with different ways of discrediting it. One of the most interesting was from an Environmental Journalist who claimed that “had [they] looked at any of these issues in greater depth, [they’d] have found that journalists have been covering these sorts of stories for years and have not glossed over the nuance.” They did not bother disproving any of stated facts, they implied that since this has been covered before by other journalists' that the documentary was somehow over dramatized and should not be taken as seriously despite it still telling the truth.
