How to combat fake news

Why do people believe bogus news stories? Can't they tell when they see them? This brings us to the problem of separating reality from fiction. One fascinating component of Claire Wardle's "Understanding Information Disorder" that attracted my curiosity was framing comedy as potential BS. This disinformation is typically propagated by satirical websites that purposefully convey inaccurate information for clickbait or by people who fall for these types of info. According to the article, "The reason that satire used in this way is so powerful a tool is that often the first people to see the satire often understand it as such. But as it gets re-shared more people to lose the connection to the original messenger and fail to understand it as satire." To prevent potential misrepresentations of the truth, we must be careful who and where we obtain our information in our daily information intake. Readers and watchers may help prevent the spread of fake news by deciphering it before forwarding it to others. Always seek proof to back up the claim, double-check sources, and explore the issue across many platforms to establish if the information read about was accurate. In my own opinion, it is beneficial to conduct your study on the topic and make your judgment.
