When reading both the “Predictions of Journalism 2021,” and “Predictions of Journalism 2022,” a question study asked knowledgeable journalists about their opinion on the future of journalism within the new year done by NiemanLab; readers can see the change in the hope for an improved journalism community. For example, Julia B. Chan and Kim Bui said, “Millennials are ready to run things,” in the Prediction of Journalism 2021. In contrast, Shalabh Upadhyay said, “Can journalism survive in a post-news world?” in the Prediction of Journalism 2022. Chan and Bui have hope for the future of journalism with millennials now in a way ‘taking over’ journalism and that they are were always told they “Weren’t ready,” to then being a part of a study done to the brightest journalists. However, a year later, Upadhyay shared his concerns that with information being reported and distributed all over the internet by anyone with a computer, that news itself is “losing its relevance.”
