International Coverage

Oftentimes, when a journalist represents their community, they have more insight into the issues happening in their community. This builds trust with the people who are in their community and can lead to changes. After reading Laxmi Parthasarathy's article, she gives examples of how some journalists have impacted their communities. She gives an example of how journalist Khorloo Khukhnokhoi was investigating an issue in her community.

After publishing her report, "Khorloo's story struck a chord with her community." Her article about a controversial situation within her community was read by many people, and a solution was provided. "Her reporting prompted grassroots calls for reform and led, ultimately, to the Mongnolia Ministires of Education and Health." She was able to sit down and talk to people who had valuable information. Her story was not only published in English but also "in Magnolian to reach the local audience," which is important because it affects her community. Covering issues that are important to other communities and exposing them can lead to changes.
