Journalism and The Future

News stories can range from a national disaster to a heartwarming story about a local family, to the latest celebrity drama. Journalism takes a pretty wide form and allows many types of writing to be included. In NiemanLab's "Predictions for Journalism 2022," (Found at this link:https://www.niemanlab.org/collection/predictions-2022/) A ton of brilliant journalists were interviewed about their thoughts on the future of journalism. Most of them agree there will be, or has already been a change in the direction of journalism. 2020 to the present day has been an era of rude awakenings. While these are unpleasant, they have worked out for good in addressing previous issues that got swept under the rug. In a personal interview with my brother, William Pecena, he says this:

In a way, I'm weirdly grateful for these rude awakenings. I feel like I just woke up and became aware after years of sleepwalking.

(February 10th. 2022). In conclusion, journalism and journalists seem to have become more aware of already existing issues and have the opportunity to speak and raise awareness for them.
