Journalism and The Future - Part 3

In my previous posts “Journalism and the Future” and “Journalism and the Future - Part 2” I wrote about NeimanLab’s “Predictions for Journalism 2022” which can be found at this link: https://www.niemanlab.org/collection/predictions-2022/

In this post, I would like to focus on another interview that I found especially interesting. In her interview, Alice Antheaume talks about the importance of face-to-face reporting. The pandemic forced a lot of things online, including a lot of news. From a business perspective, it is cheaper, and it can be more comfortable for the reporters themselves. However, it is more difficult for the consumers. Alice Antheaume says this:

It’s complicated to get to the truth. Getting to the bottom of an issue exclusively from a distance seems a nearly impossible task, even with the habit of a sedentary lifestyle imposed by curfews and lockdowns during Covid

https://www.niemanlab.org/2021/12/we-remember-the-importance-of-face-to-face-reporting/Though remote reporting seems great at the moment, the long-term effects may be harmful. Alice Antheaume’s prediction for Journalism in 2022 is that more journalists will realize the importance of face-to-face reporting.
