Journalists, as described by the website CareerExplorer "-have distinct personalities. They tend to be artistic individuals, which means they're creative, intuitive, sensitive, articulate, and expressive. They are unstructured, original, nonconforming, and innovative.". To put it simply, journalists are the free spirits in the world of news, choosing to pursue topics and leads that they find interesting rather than following the interests of the masses. An interesting story from a journalist that I'd like to share is Seymour Hersh, who exposed the My Lai Massacre in 1968. In the story Hersh reveals that the army tried to keep the actions of the infantry who committed the massacre on the down low, trying to scrub it from any and all official records. By putting themselves in the thick of the issue, Hersh was able to uncover the truth to a massacre that might have gone unseen had he not reported on it.
