Have you ever noticed how good companies are at getting your attention? Restaurants and other businesses will use certain colors in their logos or in their store that can cause a feeling of hunger, safety and even happiness. Social media and other websites have also utilized this but in different ways.
When we get a notification on our phones, our brains release dopamine, causing us to "long for the sensation" over and over again. Ever noticed how each social media sight has a different sound when you get a like or retweet? Twitter, for instance, will make a chirpy noise when you get notified by somebody. Even if you do not realize it, our phones and other technology is literally forming how our brains work. It is evident in the way we communicate with the people around us.
